Hey there! I’m Em. An engineering student with a passion for the outdoors, adventures and exploring what the world has to offer.
I hail from the wonderful county of Yorkshire in the UK, buty intention is to move abroad and experience life in other countries before I settle down. I’ve already spent a year living in Germany (which I loved!) and am currently based in Canada, working at a summer camp before travelling around the country in October. After that, who knows?

A few things you should know about me:
- I have a passion for the mountains! Whether it be skiing in winter or hiking in the summer, I want to do it all. There’s just something about the mountains that makes me feel more at peace than anywhere else, so expect a lot of mountain content on here!
- I’m a keen recreational climber. I started off bouldering during my year in Germany and have since branched out into indoor roped climbs as well. Climbing is the perfect activity for me, it engages both mind and body and allows me to block out everything else and just focus on the task at hand.
- I have been to 17 countries so far on two continents and can’t wait to explore more. If I had to pick a favourite so far it would probably be Switzerland, the nature is just stunning and it has so much to offer.
- I also train karate and am currently at brown belt. Karate really saved my mental health during the pandemic lockdowns, I go through love-hate phases when training but am glad I’ve continued to work on it so far.
Adventure Unconventional is my creative outlet – not just a blog of my travel adventures, but also (hopefully) a source of inspiration and guidance for others. I’m wayyy behind schedule on posting content so I’m currently writing about my past travels, but hope to also be able to write in more real-time in the future. I’m excited to take you along with me!
For maximum fun on a minimal budget, be sure to follow along!
